Dental Implants

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants are artificial replacements that are used to replace lost teeth and repair bone damage in the mouth. Whether it’s fixing a chipped tooth or restoring missing teeth, dental implants are long-lasting and can help people to feel confident about their smile.

 TYPES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

  • Endosteal implants – This is the most common type of implant. It comes in the form of screws that are placed into the jaw so false teeth can be fitted. Once healed, false teeth are fitted to recreate a natural look.
  • Subperiosteal implants – This type of dental implant is suited to someone who would prefer not to have any screws in their jawbone. A metal frame is placed under the gum and after fusing, the false teeth are secured atop the frame.
  • Zygomatic implants – This kind of dental implant is placed in the cheekbone rather than the jawbone. It’s usually recommended for people who don’t have enough jawbone to receive an endosteal implant.

 BENEFITS

  • Dental implants can give you a natural look and help you to smile with confidence.
  • All implants are durable and provide stability to the jaw.
  • You aren’t limited by what you can eat as prosthetic teeth provide stable bases for chewing food.
  • Implants protect against bone less and stimulate new growth through a process called osseointegration.

STAGES OF DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT

At Cranmore Dental, we offer a comprehensive dental implant service that includes the following:

Appointment: Our dedicated dental implant specialists will arrange an implant consultation with us at a time that’s convenient for you to come into our dental implant clinic.

Clinical Consultation: During your visit, you will be requested to complete a dental and medical history questionnaire. This will include a comprehensive oral assessment. Digital photographs, impressions and x-rays/CT scan may be taken with your consent. No treatment is provided at this relaxed and informative consultation. Importantly it is a two-way process in which we can guide you through a series of options which best suit your specific needs.

Treatment Planning: We will create a bespoke written treatment plan focusing on your objectives, detailing options and costs for your dental implant procedure.

Treatment: Each patient is unique, and some may require an initial appointment for preparatory work to be carried out before your dental implants procedure. Alternatively. you may proceed straight to implant placement which is usually followed by a healing period of 10 days.

Integration: The time allowed for implants to integrate will vary depending on bone conditions. Over approximately the next 2 to 6 months the implant will integrate with the bone to become solid. During the healing period a fixed bridge or removable denture is used to close your gap.

Restoration: Final teeth are usually fitted between 3 and 9 months after implant placement (with the exception of teeth in a day, where the provisional teeth are fitted on the day of placement).

Maintenance: Regular dental examinations and hygiene appointments will be recommended to maintain the health of your mouth, teeth and implants.

Aftercare: Our team are always on hand to provide any further advice or care which you may specifically require and please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Payment: At Cranmore we are committed to formulating a financial plan that suits your individual needs and provides affordable dental implants. Our team of dental implant specialists will advise you of the options available including finance options.
